The good news is that demand in the data center and 5g demand has been seriously damaged, but, will not be killed. Macom is not the only Company that has suffered because of misguided trade policies. John Croteau could not anticipate the US government refusing to allow Macom to sell parts to Chinese air, he could not anticipate that the US government would refuse to allow Macom to sell to ZTE and Huawei, he could not anticipate that his plan to sell CWDM4 to Chinese contract manufacturers would fail because the President of the United States thinks that placing tarriffs and going it alone against China is a good idea. If AMD can survive Intel then Macom should be a walk in the park. it maybe ) Intel paid a billion dollars a year to Dell to make sure that they did not use AMD processors and paid OEM's a lesser amount, and pay OEM's and retailers today to sell Intel products and not AMD. I do not want to say that it is a sure thing ( although if you listen to the ST. Where any one of these products has the potential to turn a massive profit for the company, where the book value is around $10.00 without giving consideration to Macom s I.P. If Macom can make the cheapest 25g laser that can be used in transceivers, make base stations parts out of GaN that are required in 5g telecom, can make PAM-4 parts, can make L-pics, Phased Array antennas, a new type of home oven, ARM processors for the data center. Better products!! Unless I am wrong, debt is only a problem for companies that do not have "products that will sell". AMD was trading at $1.74 less than two years ago, on the ropes, weighed down by debt and no sales and now they are at $30.00 a share and headed higher because they have better products than Intel. ( 2024 I think ) But, I do not hold to this doom and gloom picture that some here are trying to paint. However, my understanding is that Macom has no debt payments due for several years. I am not a finance guy and do not know about the numbers and would be glad to get any help along those lines.
